Severus stared at the glass of water in front of him moodily. He had managed to scrape together the supplies he needed just barely. That had been a reasonably enjoyable process, a lot better than what he usually spent his time doing. Now that the essential task had been done though, he was going to have to head back home.

Oh how he hated the place! The mere thought of returning home made him want to grip the glass so hard it shattered. If only he had the strength, and he wouldn't cut his hands with the broken glass, and wouldn't be charged for breaking the glass in the first place.

Severus could not wait to go to Hogwarts, to join the Wizarding World fully. That was going to have to wait though, first he would have to go back home. No matter what subject his thoughts went to, the knowledge that he would have to go back to Spinners End loomed over him.

He scowled as he reached for the glass and took a sip of water from it. Water was neutral. Sometimes he wished he could be, and he certainly wished his father would be, especially when it came to magic.

Briar walked into the Leaky Cauldron, Lion trotting behind her and her unruly hair pulled into a bun. It was unnaturally hot outside and Briar had barely gotten any shopping done. Her mother would come looking for her soon enough and running into Thornbush had not put her in good spirits. Briar's face was probably red with anger and exhaustion. She needed some water and fast.

Looking around the Leaky Cauldron, she noticed how full it was. That was just her luck too. All but one table had more than one person sitting there. Deciding that the boy sitting at the table was around her age, Briar walked forward so she stood by the table.

"Do you mind if I sit here?" Briar wondered in a breathy voice due to the heat.
